Week 10 - Power
So this is my interpretation of this week’s theme. You can look at this in different ways, but how I want you to look at it, is this way: growing up as a girl in today’s society is difficult. Constantly seeing magazine covers, like these, telling you how to look and how to dress is quite simply brutal and it is most definitely damaging for young girls to be exposed to this. Women’s magazines, and all other media, have too much power to create false truths about the female body, how you should look and dress, and it makes me sick. It needs to stop.
Week 9 - Mood/atmosphere
I love this photo. I have not done any post editing. This photo gives me good vibes and the atmosphere and the mood of the photo is great. This was taken at a festival in Australia, and we had an amazing time! I also got several other photos I wanted to use, but in the end I chose this one because it is my favourite in the bunch!
Week 8 - Transport
This is my interpretation of this week’s theme. I was able to get a few shots of this guy, but I was not very lucky with the focus in my shots, so I was not able to choose the photo I originally wanted to submit. It is the first time in a very long time that I am using my 7d, so maybe I am just out of practice! But I am pleased with the result :) I wanted to make it more grainy, but this is what I ended up with.
What annoys me with this photo is the 50 sign with the little black arrow that is pointing at his hat, and a few other details…
Week 7 - Joy
This guy fills me with joy and we always have fun and laugh together. The best personal representation of joy. Looking at this makes me smile :)
I am not really pleased with my two latest submissions, but I had my mind on other things. At least I have been taking photos! ;)
Week 6 - Close
These two are almost inseparable. They are best friends, and they are both adorable!
Week 5 / 52 - Empty Spaces
This week proved to be a quite challenge.. I had so many ideas, but I just could not get the shot I wanted… But this is what I ended up with. I like the opacity of the silhouette, almost like it is a ghost… And to me a ghost is almost like an empty space, a hollow figure, just waiting for something to fill it up…
Week 4/52 - Time
I have not been photographing in a long, long time, sadly enough. Of course there have been snaps and instagrams, but no real creative release. I could say I have been too busy, but that will most certainly be a lie. I have simply rushed through each day that has passed me by. I have not taken the time to slow myself down and look at the world as I used to: beautiful and full of surprises. It is a new year, 2014, and it came very quickly thanks to all the rushing and fuzzing, but it is time for change.
Photography used to be an extension of myself, something I did without thinking, in the sense that it was, yes, just as natural as thinking itself. So now I want to get back on track, it is time to blow off the dust on my camera and let the creativity flow yet again. Photos will be taken, life documented and moments enjoyed. I am off to a slow start for sure, but better slow than not at all.
So, let me now introduce you to this slow start of mine. 52 weeks, 52 photos. A group project with friends just for the fun, joy and practice of it, and an individual project to get myself back in the saddle. I joined in late, so this is already the fourth week and it is themed “time”.
Time, something everyone wants to change, whether it is fast forwarding it or rewinding it, slowing it down or simply stop it from ticking away all those moments you wish you could be in forever. But time is no one’s slave. It takes us to new places and people. It takes us to where we want to go and sometimes to where we would rather not be. Time is full of changes, time is exciting. Time is life.
